Panic Day

Messies sometimes have the type of day that panics those of us on the road to recovery.  A day when our “stuff” threatens to overwhelm us. Paper and dishes and clothes threaten to morph into domestic “Transformers” and rage havoc in our lives.

Usually the last straw is fatigue, a cold, flu, something that clouds our minds and saps our strength. A time where we are physically or mentally challenged. Oh and of course we have let our routines slip and there are dishes to be washed, projects strewn about and some other stress to add to the mix.

This is a time to put into operation “Love Self”.  Take a few minutes to put your blinders on to everything but nurturing yourself if even just for 10 minutes.  Take your supplements, use some essential oil and make yourself a favorite beverage.  Take a mental vacation and go to your safe place and breath!

Once you feel less frazzled think gently on what tasks need to be done and prioritize them.  One option is to divide them into Public and Personal. Public meaning things to do with others like paying a bill, sending out an email or making a phone call. Personal are items you do that make your life easier such as doing laundry or washing dishes.  This will also give you a snapshot of how your routines are shaping up.

Do one item at a time giving it enough time to finish a segment. If it gets overwhelming go back to breathing and calming.  If you have something that has to be done quickly see if a family member or friend can help or take on another task that might make it easier.

Don’t Panic! Panic Days are never fun and they will come but with preparation, knowledge and increasing your coping skills you will get through them. As with any health issue see a health care professional for help if things feel out of control.
